The Supplier Quality Engineer is directly responsible to ensure the quality of our purchased components and finished devices through appropriate application of supplier management and incoming inspection practices. This may include the assisting suppliers in qualification and development of new / existing components to meet customer requirement specification, periodic audit of suppliers, following up non conformance issues and corrective actions with suppliers or Supply Base Management activities. The SQE supports Purchasing in managing the supply base through the use of supplier assessment, supplier rating and supplier corrective action systems. Provide leadership in development and continuous improvement of Supplier Management procedures and related quality systems.
Duties include but are not limited:
- Provide leadership in the development and continuous improvement of Supplier Management procedure and related quality systems.
- Supports Purchasing in managing the supplier base through the use of supplier assessment, supplier rating and supplier corrective action systems.
- Supports Receiving Inspection in the development of inspection plans including First Article Inspection and in the application of appropriate inspection methods.
- Resolves issues related to the validity of inspection / test techniques including inspection / test method correlation issues with supplier.
- Provides periodic analysis and reporting of Key Performance Indicators.
- Ability to audit suppliers site per the Mechanical Audit Checklist.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in metal stamping, injection molding and integrated enclosure commodity teams.
- Analyzes failures and product returns and recommends corrective action with respect to process and product.
- Ensure the quality of purchased components and finished devices through appropriate application of supplier management and incoming inspection practices.
- In some cases may perform source inspections at supplier before accepting product to ship into our facility.
- Maintenance of quality systems & programs in our IQC department
- Provides expert guidance to other departments in the application of quality assurance techniques.
- Evaluate new / changing supplier base capability for traditionally sourced components as well as expanded scope demands.
- Work with suppliers for approve the Production Part Approval Process(PPAP), FAI, Cpk, GR&R , PMP, PFMEAs to achieve customer requirement.
-Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric design & tolerance & gage design & function.
- Other requirements and roles to support the QA department.
